Required Text and Supplies: Dreamweaver 4 Dreamweaver 4, Hands on Training One IBM formatted Zip Disk (Can be Mac, but needs to be reformatted) Outline of Topics: Interface Web Color Optimization Layers on Steroids Type Layer Styles Background Images Transparent Gifs Image Maps Slicing Rollovers Layer-Based Rollovers Animated Gifs Automation Importing/Exporting Evaluation Method:The course grade will be determined by 1) attendance; 2) projects and practical exams; and 3) lab exercises/homework assignments 4) Instructor’s overall evaluation of the student’s performance, which includes attitude and class participation in discussions and adhering to academic policies and course guidelines. Failure to hand in a final or midterm will result in an automatic zero for the evaluation. The final grade will be computed as follows: Lab exercises/Homework 35% Projects and Exams 51% Instructor’s Evaluation 5% Attendance 9% A = 90 - 100 percentage of total points B = 80 - 89.9 C = 70 - 79.9 D = 60 - 69.9 F = 0 - 59.9 Attendance Policy: Arriving after the start time of class or leaving before the end time of class is considered and absence. No one is to leave the classroom during scheduled classes unless given permission by the instructor. College Attendance Policy: Class attendance is a vital component of student success. For this reason, it is expected that students will take seriously their need to attend class on a punctual, regular and consistent basis. A student who misses more than the equivalent of three weeks of class in any particular course will be withdrawn from that course by the College. Students who miss the first class meeting and are not present at the second class meeting may be withdrawn from the course if the course is full and there is one or more other students wanting to register for the course. This attendance policy applies to absence for any reason, including late registration for a course. Individual instructors may, at their discretion, institute an attendance policy which allows fewer than three weeks of absence. Individual instructors will determine the course policy with respect to arriving late for class and leaving early from class. All attendance policies for a course will be included in the course outline. Appeals with respect to actions under this policy must be addressed by the student to the Committee on the Standing of Students and Academic Appeal. Information Literacy Assignments: The computer field changes rapidly. The only way to keep up with the field is to read technical literature as well as popular newspapers and magazines. You will be given assignments during the semester related to our need to keep pace with the field. Tutoring Services: Please be aware that Sullivan County Community College provides tutoring for all students free of charge. It is expected that many of the students in this course will use the tutoring services. You may make appointments at the Center for Learning Assistance near the Library. Special Note: Anyone surfing the net, chatting, or doing anything other than instructed inside of my classes will have their user privileges taken away for one week. This means no login whatsoever including for homework and other classes. No late homework assignments will be accepted. If you miss a class, you may contact me at rmcelrath@sullivan.suny.edu to find out what was assigned that day, to turn in the work the next class period. All work must be turned in with the following format hand written on every page: Your full name, the chapter number, the page number, and the exercise number. All work without the above format will not be graded. |
